RUmors abound on the LIRR Forum of the scrapping of RS3 #1555, which was badly damaged in mid-restoration by a Florida hurricane, several years back. The unit was offered for others to take on, but I don't think anyone bit. #1555 was one of the two Diesels which were used in the "End of Steam" ceremonies, in 1955, and swapped coaches with G5s #35, still in "preservation" (preservation in parts). Any word or a photo of 1555?
