When I found out the pile driver was coming to Chama with 488 and no other cars I called my friend Geoff and off we went to chase it from Los Pinos back towards Chama.

We were talking about how lucky we were to be able to see this. I don't imagine there are many people that are alive today that got to see the same thing.

Enjoy, I know I did.

Gotta say that's neat for sure. One thing I noticed in the photos is that their track really looks like they've been making progress on the physical plant. Any commentary from those who know more about the C&T? I have really liked this line since a visit in the early '90's and tried to keep up with it from down South...

Great photos. What was the reason for the ferry move? Why not tack the car to the end of a revenue train vs expense of a single engine move?

About all I can tell you is they are working on the track every day and it looks to me like they are doing a fine job. The trip time is shorter by about 1 hour.

Waht I understand is 488 was on the Antonito side working on ballest and it needed to be in Chama for the 2nd train out of Chama on Thursday so 488 brought over the pile driver.
