does anyone have the specific heritage of this heavyweight car that sits totally neglected down at the old Church Street Station location in Orlando. Car has interesting "small light dome" feature on platform ceiling. Was this at one time a Central of Georgia car ??

If anyone wants to see the other equipment left down in Orlando, just shoot me off a message, and I will be happy to post or email to anyone who is interested !

Any information would be appreciated. ( the new interchange is great ! )

In your first photo, there appears to be some sort of identifying sign next to the electrical box on the far-right side of the picture. Was there any info about the car there?

From this photo I found online there are three other pieces there. The dome looks to be ex-UP. The caption on the photo claims the locomotive to be former Frisco. Can't really see the other car clear enough, but at first glance it appears to be a modernized heavyweight diner. Maybe ex-Southern?

A google search has turned up some information. This old depot was once the Church Street station -- Amtrak uses other facilities. The Church Street station became a privately owned commercial venture.

This listing shows that Mr Snow did own two UP domes. The one still in Orlando is coach 7009. The other was a dome-lounge that was moved to a development in Las Vegas in the mid-80s.

Church Street Station had a train's worth of equipment stored across the road from Orlando's airport in 1982 (come to think of it, it could have been Kissimme), including several coaches and heavyweights. Does anyone have any ideas what happened to this apparently derelict stash?

The 0-6-0 is indeed ex-Frisco 3749, which had been sold to a Pensacola, Fla. scrapyard ca. 1963.

The only caboose reported in Orlando is: wood, cupola, replica, markings?, Ray's Mobile Home & RV Supplies, Hwy. 50. Does anyone have a photo of this one?

Kissimmee had 4 cabooses, including 3 UPs, but I think only 1 remains - SCL 01061, rebuilt from SAL 5606, Ice Cream Shop, Lake Toho Lakefront Park., Lakeshore Dr.

The obs car is ex southern. I saw the number at some point. I have been dealing with the company that owns the cars and loco as they want to move them to another location on the same lot. The Diner is the one I can't seem to pin down who had it. All the cars have been tunneled. Only the dome could come out and move.

I should know, but what is meant by "cars have been tunneled?"

The expression is sometimes used to refer to passenger rail cars that have been gutted completely of all seating, and usually interior walls, bulkheads, etc.--in effect, running the metaphorical bulldozer from one end of the car to the other. Done properly, it makes the car an empty shell in which to set up a redesign of the owner/operator's choice--a dining car, a dance/disco car (don't laugh, it's been done), or one big mobile home. Done improperly, it structurally weakens the car to the point where it can be unusable on a train.
