I regret to report that during the night of August 7th, the steamlocomotive.info database was hacked by Chinese malware distributor. We do have backups, but until we learn how this was accomplished, the site is down, and will remain so.

Well, we've got a pretty good handle on how it was done...via a programming error on one of the coldfusion pages. We'll have the site back together and thoroughly tested in a couple of days, probably by Monday. Sorry for whatever inconvenience this may represent.

Cold Fusion is HORRID!! Either way though, good luck figuring it out and getting it back online.

Actually I'm quite fond of CF, having been using it since version 2.0. The problem was an improperly checked parameter, and I'd have probably made the same mistake in any of the other languages we use. Anyhoo, the mistake has been found and verified against our logs. We'll be bringing the site back up over the weekend with some new security code added.

Thank you for keeping this site online. I don't go there all that often, but when I need info about a specific locomotive it is great to be able to find that info with a couple of clicks. keep up the great work and thanks again for your efforts, for both RYPN and steamlocomotive.com.
