10:20am eastern, the piece about the Heber Olympic trains finally aired. Really looks beautiful out there!

Looked as spectacular as any Carl Franz or C&TS winter charter--utterly beautiful and wonderful, looks worth running out to Utah right now!

Heck here in the Cincinnati area, the Today Show runs from 7-10am. We don't get anything between 10-11 am. Whats up with that! I even checked at 10:30 and it was Montel Williams, not Heber Steam!
Oh well better luck next century!

NBC runs an extra hour of "Today" Olympic coverage, from 10-11am EST, and certain afflilates may choose not to carry it.

It ran at 9:20 AM in Philadelphia, and we usually are behind the times.

Post subject: Today a new job for a day
PostPosted: Fri Feb 15, 2002 8:46 pm

The Today show is running this thing where they will work at a job for day. I sent them a nice little note saying one of them should work at the Heber Valley Railroad for a day since they didn't show the segment on the railroad, but that was before I knew they aired the segment this morning, but still I think we all need to send them a note saying Matt Katie or Al should spend the day on the Heber Valley.

Later,

Stuart

ps, How was the segment?

I'm sure we can find something for them (Matt, Al and Katie) to do up here, as long as they keep up with the pace. The piece they ran on the Today Show was great despite the minor inacuracies (UP never ran the line it was DRGW, and no engine up here is older than 95). Because of the coverage, though, the ticket office has gone nuts taking calls and reservations. Trains are selling out, and our business manager is starting to wonder if she'll have to start refusing people requesting reservations.

As a result, the operations side of things has to pick up the pace while myself and other dispatchers carefully monitor radio communications, 4 miles of track from Heber to Soldier Hollow, and two trains operating tight schedules.

The best part is seeing people come back from the venue on the train waving their flags (mostly American and Norweigan) and telling us what a great time they had.

We're having a lot of fun too!
