Reading & Northern 25th. Anniversary Steam Excursion Video

Hi all,
I was to the 25th Anniversary outing at Port Clinton, PA. They ran four mini excursions with their Baldwin 4-6-2 No. 425. built in 1928.

I'm working on the other video that gose with the 25th. Anniversary, Thses videos are of the 425 putting away the train, in cluding moving the Reading T1 2102 from the River track to one of the privet coaches track.

Saturday the 20th was a great day to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of a great railroad! There was music, food, animal displays, slide shows, speeches by Andy Mueller and Beverly Hess (the only two that I could get close enough to hear) not to mention free food, parting gifts and of course the two stars of the show,
idle 2102 and the fully functional and beautifully restored 425!
Dad and I got a couple of pictures sitting in the cab of the massive T-1 and also rode the 1:45 pm train with 425.
The last time we rode behind her in revenue service was in 1987 from Temple to Hamburg and return and 11 years later you would never know she spent any time down. She hasn't missed a beat. She's still got it! Keep those videos coming Len! They're awesome!!
One major disappointment to the day was the fact that only a few yards from the station site lies another 4-8-4 wrapped in a white tarp or what looks like shrink wrap. Septemeber 11 2008 came and went...

Anyway, the day went perfectly. Len shot some amazing video as usual, the weather couldn't have cooperated better and it was like I said just an absolutely great day.
The staff at R&N are top notch and I wish them another 25 years and then some!

Hi again Len,
Saw all 4 vids of Putting Away The Train. Brings back memories of Bogota and Ridgefield Park, NJ when I would watch NYS&W switching near the Hackensack River. Loved all of them!
Questions arise however...
What's up with the rails at Port Clinton? Either the consist was too heavy for 425, their are unforeseen grades or the track is not level in some areas or Shane and Tyler have quick hands on the throttle. I saw and heard LOTS of slipping on those videos, not to mention while I was there...any thoughts?

Also, whenever 425 would start out, what is that annoying whistle or high pitched moan that she puts out? Is that the throttle making it sound like an owl in heat?

Hi Steve,
I have real RDG trackage Blue Prints from Oct. 12, 1923 of Port Clinton.
It shows a slight grade from Tunnel to PN junction of 1.1% .

The tunnel was taken OOS in 1924.

That is a moan she has had, her whole life, When the casting were molded at Baldwin in 1928, it's just her way of saying I'm special! lol.

On a side note it sure look good to see the T teamed up with 425 though she was cold. Maybe someday we'll see her under steam once more.
