Western Maryland 2-10-0, apparently damaged in an accident. Long scrapped.

The 1111 was involved in a rear end collision. I think the time frame was in the late forties. Amazingly a photographer was taking pictures of the train that day. He took a shot of her head brakeman flagging the train over a crossing in Westminster, MD if I recall correctly. A few minutes and miles later he was taking photos of the wreck. The steel northeastern style caboose had poped out of the train and landed upright but off its trucks in a field beside the wreck. With the locomotive in the late steam configuration and judging from the damage to the front end I think this is the aftermath of that wreck. A couple of the photos appeared in one of the Best of the WM books but it will be the weekend before I can look them up.
