Has anyone heard from Bernie and the gang with CNJ 113? Last I remember he was hoping to have her at least pressure check by now.

P.S. I glad everything for the 2 K&K steamers worked out. Glad I didn't bet a steak dinner on that! Now I hope I'm wrong about the Lost Engines.

All,

I would like to point out that I am more or less one of the correspondants for Railway Restoration Project 113 and not one of the hand on grunts or decision makers. I work on making patterns, helped with several E-grants and today delivered a replica CNJ three chime step-top whistle bell. It was cast at Active Brass and I machined and cleaned it. The bowl/valve will be supplied by Jeff Hosford of California.

Robert Kimmel Jr. is President and all around general planner and motivator for the project. If it wasn't for his tenacity, the project wouldn't be any where as near to completion as it is. Right now they are grinding the ends off staybolts and hammering them down. I don't know the date of any tests yet, but they can't be far off (we have all heard that before). This is slow hard work and it is not being done in an enginehouse. The weather is everything.

I can direct specific questions to Bob.

Yes, there is one: CNJ 592, a Camelback 4-4-2 at B&O Museum. It was given a very preliminary survey for possible restoration to operating status about 1990. A very neat locomotive, and one that would send the FRA folks into orbit regarding crew safety!!

So, that's two more CNJ steam locos than exist from the Erie, or D&H, or New Haven, or Lehigh Valley, to name a few Eastern favorites.
