Everyone,

I am sorry to report that the Dry Creek bridge was removed yesterday for the new road construction.

The new road will mostly engulf the row from the shops all the way up Morgan Fork to the sawmill.

This is progress? At one time, the Morehead and North Fork Railroad could have been another Nevada Northern or EBT.

JD -

Sad to hear your report. Is the Shop, and its equipment, safe?

Les,

The equipment and shops are safe from road construction. They did pull up the lead tracks to one of the storage buildings which now entombs the remains of RS-12 # 2102 which was gutted in 1989 with the parts being sold to Jimmy Mc Hugh in Trenton NJ.

A word to everyone, this is PRIVATE PROPERTY and it is POSTED with NO TRESSPASSING signs.

I remember a particular Sunday in 1994 when about 5 of us were pumping a hand car that came up from Huntington, WV for the train show only to be drenched by a shower and pumping the car back across Dry Creek Bridge to get back to the yard.
We were wet but what a video it would have made for Americas Funniest People.

I just purchased a new book written by a friend of mine called "Steam in the Heart" "Life and Times Along the Morehead and North Fork"
Written by Fred Brown Jr, I look forward to reading it. It is on Amazon now for 22 dollars and I will let you know about it. As I thumbed through it, it seemed pretty good.

Take care,

And who is the actual owner, pray tell?

Andrew,

The folks that own the whole railroad and the former Lee Clay plant are
Homer Gregory and Co. Inc. They run the sawmill at the former Lee Clay plant where the smokestack still stands.

The Lee Clay plant burned in 1982 and was the largest fire in Rowan Co. at the time.

As I said, this is private property and is posted no tresspassing.

As far as I know, they have no plans to sell anything.
