Hi every one,
Last weekend was Reading & Northern last steam excursion for this year.
It was known as the Hard Core Rail fan only all day long trip with 425.
Well most of the day it rain hard, but with a few breaks in the rain clouds for the riders to get some track side run by's.
I chased the trip from Port Clinto to White Haven and return.
The whistle they used for this trip was the Boston & Maine, the same whistle they used in the past, back in the 1990's.
Here is the video I took.
Hope you enjoy.

I'm sure if somebody wants to make a comment, they may on their own and know how to do so without being prompted.

You say this was known as the Hardcore Railfan Special. So, were you hardcore enough to purchase a ticket from the Reading & Northern to get the footage in the links that you've so proudly bumped for views? Rain or no rain, I hope so.

No, I didn't buy a ticket it was to much money for me at $200.00 a person, I how ever did ride back in September from Jim Thorpe to Pittston,PA. the weekend that Hanna came up the cost, and video taped the whole trip from on board.
The heads of R&N knew I was chasing the trip too. I also requested the Boston & Maine whistle two weeks before the October 25th. I gave my request to Tyler Glass the VP of all operation for R&N.
This whistle was last used in the mid 1990's on the 425, it was also used on the 2102 for some of the off line trips.
I been rail fanning BM&R / RBMN for all of it's 25 years of service, Steam as well as diesel. I have rode in cab of three freight trains and I have rode in cab of 2102 and 425 a few times.
I have rode behind both 2102 and 425 many times and someday hopefully I'll ride behind 2102 again.

Not to sound silly, but what was different about this trip compared to the other trips?

I rode to Jim Thorpe back in June. It was great!

That's not what Tyler told me. He said that they were thinking of using the CNJ whistle, John.
