Sorry, mates, but even my wife couldn't understand all of the voice mail for certain, and I'm not going to "announce" that someone got "the 38" only to find he got "38 cars" or something! I've tried calling him back twice, no answer.......

But based strictly on who it was........ think freight cars.......... <:-)

Now, THERE'S a statement that is VERY hard to believe...!!!

What, that I'm hard of hearing (I wear a hearing aid), that his phone call/voice mail was very static-laden, or that Scott K. collects freight cars? Even after his posts and e-mails, I still can't figure out everything on that voice mail!

Believe whatever you'd like. I'm just not buying it.

Does anyone know who has scrapping rights on the Ping Pongs? I need to buy a few parts for another Ping Pong restoration.

Thanks

There were several scrap dealers who bid at the auction and it's not clear who got what. I do know that Triple S Recycling of Tionesta, PA, bought a number of cars and is on site at Kane cutting equipment right now, so I would suggest doing an internet search for their phone number and start with them. At least two or three of the Long Island cars are going to new homes.

Alan, do you have the car numbers and where those Ping Pongs will be going? I am trying to keep track of the equipment from Steamtown VT that has been sold off.

Many thanks,

I don't have car numbers. This is all second hand information, but it is my understanding that the Arcade & Attica is getting the car that was set up for food service and has restrooms; one coach and one open car may be heading to the AC&J in Jefferson, Ohio; and a local civic group may buy one of the coaches as a display piece. I've also heard there are buyers who want parts out of the remaining coaches - seats, windows, etc.

Does anyone know what the disposition of the turntable was? Sold to a scrapper or to another line/person/left in place?

Ron,

The turntable at Marienville was considered part of the right-of-way and was sold, along with the track, to the Kovalchicks. It has not been scrapped and as far as I know, it is available for purchase. I believe several parties have inquired about it.

At last report, a car in question has arrived in Western New York and was sighted at the northern terminus of the Arcade & Attica, at the Reisdorf Bros. Mill in North Java. Apparently it is receiving some attention before being placed in service.

No pictures are yet available to confirm the identity of which car, however, it is reported to be ex-K&K.

It is rather ironic that the 'great pumpkin' (the A&A) would purchase another orange car at the same time that the decision was made to return the A&A cars back to their original DL&W livery.

Does anyone know if the car was equipped with roller or friction bearings?

This was the consessions car, I wonder if it was the one the A&A got?
It looks like friction trucks to me:

I believe the 710 RPO car (at Marienville) was sold to John Smith of the West Virginia Central and that he also later bought the Kinzua Concessions car (photo link) from the scrapper.

The car that went to the Arcade & Attica should be #7069, the "Cafe" car:

Wow, I'd be very surprised if it was moved by rail with those trucks!
Good to hear that some will survive, my last ride on them was over 30 years ago!
