We seem to have had a number of "reawakenings" of supposedly long dead locomotives recently. This ALCO. Santa Fe 4-6-2 #3415 in Abilene, Kansas. The magnificent restoration of C&NW GP7 #4160 at the Illinois Railway Museum. We had one at our museum. Pronounced as "totally worn out" and "only suitable for static display", our EMD Model 40 was brought back to life a couple of winters ago by one of our members. There is something quite heartwarming in seeing these locomotives once again move under their own power.
