Actually, every S-160 in the UK (I think there are 7 at last count) was brought back from Europe or Asia. After the war, I think only 1 remained in the UK on the Longmoor Military Railway and that was scrapped a few years later.

Roger,

You're right. One was imported from China, three from Hungary, one is an ex-Italian engine, two are Polish.

Going back to the VIW 0-6-0T engines that were the subject of this thread, there are five in the UK. Four remained in the UK following the war as members of the BR 300xx class following nationalization. 30075 under restoration for the Swanage Railway is in fact one of the Jugoslav copies, ex-62.669, and not one of the VIW 0-6-0T engines.

All of the Jugoslav copies were built by Duro Dakovic Industrija Lokomotiva from 1955-1961.
