Well, apparently someone wanted it enough to bid $5k for it. Glad it worked out. I'm sure we're all curious who picked it up. There's a bunch of resources out on the net for assistance with parts and technical expertise if they need assistance and here is just as good a URL to start with as any other.

Thanks for posting the link - interesting photos! Several pictures in the middle of the series show what appears to be a pair of Asheville cars being transported to a "warehouse on Swannanoa River Road" in 1992 "for restoration." One of these cars appears to be a standard Birney; the other looks to be a slightly different, perhaps slightly earlier design. Any idea whether these two are still around, and if so, where they ended up?

The two trolleys in the Warehouse on Swannanoa River Road being moved in 1992 were never restored. They are the trolleys from Spindele, moved there in 1989. They ended up in a junkyard on Choctaw Street.The city has been storing these two trolleys there, uncovered since leaving the warehouse.
The one might have been this type.

I'm really not sure, I do know one was older and smaller then the other.
I'll let you know if I find out for sure.
They are just shells now from what I've been told.
I'll try to get down there and get some pictures.

There was another trolley in Asheville, on the other end of Swannanoa River road. I believe it was used as part of a fruit stand. The fruit stand had a fire and the trolley had some fire damage.
That trolley was sold and is now in Kenilworth across from Mission Hospital in Asheville, not to far from the Choctaw Street trolleys. That one is also a shell now.
I found a story in a 2003 Mountainxpress about the trolley.
Here is the story ;
http://www.mountainx.com/news/2003/1223trolley.php
I was able to get in touch with Kevin Creedy and ask him why it was never restored.
Here is his response to my E mail;
"Hi,
Sorry to get back to you so late. The article you read was written before I started working on the trolley and as it turned out I never did any work on it. The owners ended up selling it with a house they were renovating in Asheville.
All the best,
Kevin"

I don't get... Not one can throw a tarp over their trolley!
By investing in 80$ worth of tarps they could have made $5000. on E bay!

I'll keep you' all posted on the renovation of my old trolley.
Thanks again for all your input!
David
