Hi all,
I hope you enjoy this old time look of the East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad Company. The film was taken by The late Sam Parks of Chicago, Ill. in the 1940's with 16mm film . The information was provided by Mr. Parks it was written on the back of the film box. I bought this film off E bay last year.

Hi Len-

Actually, it can't be the 1940's because that's film of the Tweetsie Railroad and Rebel Railroad (now Dollywood) theme parks, both located in Blowing Rock, NC, and Pigeon Forge, TN respectively.

From the Tweetsie footage, it was shot in the late 1950's or early 1960's. You can tell because in one shot ex-ET&WNC #12 is pulling by the shop and the ex-White Pass loco #190 is sitting behind the building.

Same for the Dollywood timing. #190 and sister #192 came south from Alaska about the same time.

Still, neat footage just the same.

Yep, this is definitely from the late 50s or early 60s based on the location and paint schemes. I concur that it's really neat no matter when it was taken!

I was going by what Mr. Parks wrote on the back of the box and the ink is fading perty well. so what look like 1940 could had been 50 or later. it's hard to read.
Thanks for the correction.

Len.

From posts on the Tweetsie Yahoo!Group, the Tweetsie footage would have been shot in the spring of 1960, #190 having arrived 4/29/60, plus cars seen on the film put it in that time frame.

The Rebel Railroad (now Dollywood) is said to have opened in 1962.

The power for the train was the 3 ft gauge 2-8-2 #192 ex-WP&Y #192 (BLW #69427 2, 1943). The engine had the obligatory bright colors and the fake wood burner stack.
I got that from searching on Google, next question is this film rare?
