Twitter updates continue from the SP4449 crew now that they're in Michigan.
You can follow their day's activities (be sure to click on and check their twitter pics as well) online at :

www.twitter.com/sp4449

A great bargain, it's free !
I have to presume there are some other folks updating as well, anyone else care to share ?

A good way to join in the fun if you can't be there.
Seriously though, think how incredibly sci-fi this whole concept would have been when the 4449 was built. (Or any of the other steamers there, excepting of course the baby of the group, Leviathan)

Thanks to the crew for this extra added bit of effort !

These photos do not look real. They look like abstract art paintings.
Did everyone enjoy the news piece on All Things Considered this evening?

I just noticed, is that rust on 1225?

not rust - reflection of her Lima sister - 4449. The 1225 is in brand new gloss paint!

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

Stephen.
Your photography continues to amaze me and realize that we have a master in our midst in the traditions of generations past.
Thanks,

A few more tips.

Approaches to Owosso: M-71 (from Durand) is closed. M-21 (from the east) is closed with a detour. Best approach is M-52 from the south.

Parking: on the north side is very congested but on the south side there's plenty of free parking about 1/2 mile away. There's a roving golf cart that charges you $1 to get you back. Lots of folks shill $5-$10 parking, sometimes farther than the free lot.

Lots of people onsite will sell you bottled water for $1.00.

The big all-day train takes about 1/2 hour to arrive and leave. During this time it blocks the road. Don't be on the south side when this happens.

Walk north (across the river) into town for plenty of restaurants. If you're a foodie, the Courtside Cafe sells sandwiches and soup made from top-shelf ingredients (for Michigan).
