Just wanted to let you all know that there are still some seats left for the Conrail Express excursion. The trip is from Philadelphia to Perryville, then up the Port Road and through Enola Yard, over Rockville Bridge and back to Philly over the Keystone Line. The trip is October 17 and will be pulled by Bennett Levin's E8s and on the tail will be the 120, the Warrior Ridge and the Kichi Gammi Club. For more info, tickets, and more, go to www.thecrhs.org
Thanks, Russ Swinnerton

I'm thinking about going. Any place riders will be able to detrain, or are we captive from beginning to end?

Steve, it is going to be a captive trip. Our only stop will be a brief one at Harrisburg (less than 5 minutes) as required by Amtrak. We considered a photo runby, but NS was less than happy about it as was our insurance company.
Thanks and hope to see you in October!

Photo run-by! Yes... what a great concept. Maybe a photo run-by on the station platform at Lancaster? There is not a lot of train traffic at that time and it should not present much risk.

While I can understand the added insurance problems a photo runby would cause, a chance to photograth the train other than prior to the trip in the murky depths of 30th Street Station would be appreciated. Tom's idea of a photo STOP at Lancaster shouldn't cause that much of a problem.

Good to see a number of you guys coming for the trip!

Make sure to introduce yourself, I'll be running around helping to run the event, and I'd really like to meet fellow RYPNers.

I agree, I really wish we could do a photo stop, but in addition to the insurance issues, there's also the logistics about potentially unloading 400+ people from the train, and then making sure everyone gets back on.

While not part of the trip, we ARE setting up some exciting photo ops as part of our larger convention: http://thecrhs.org/conventions/philly09

Right now it's looking we're hoping for a full photo session at the JTRR with the E8s after the trip, if AMTRAK can get the units there in time. If you're interested in that, it's probably well worth the convention registration, which also includes your trip ticket as well.

Just added to the consist-- Bennett Levin's "Juniata Rapids" ordering info should be up on the site tonight. Space for this car is VERY limited.
