She is looking a lot better. The recent 7002 thread has me wondering how much this cost.

Tom, she does look really good! I don't think we can compare the two. Here is why, If 7002 is going to be a full up repair everything, scope of work, that could be the reason for the high cost. They may be replacing sheetmetal, and wood. So wouldn't that raise the cost. The Big Boy only got a paint job and I can't remember what the overall cost was for the "Front Seven" at Steamtown. But that looks really nice!

I suppose this isn't a great idea in the age of "green", but since Steamtown has so many locomotives it has no intent of restoring, a display idea might include piping steam to them, and giving the visual impression of hot locomotives at the ready. I know, another expense and water collecting on the metal, etc. Still, for the average Melvin Goodslob and family, it would begin to convey the impression of one of the major "turn-ons" of steam.

Speaking as a greenie, I think that would be cool.

I'm sure it's temporary. The painting contractor was working furiously to finish the thing by railfest and this is one item that slipped through the cracks I guess. All final detailing is going to be done by the park staff, versus the contractor, so I'm sure it'll get corrected.
