The thread about Ed Bowers' Baldwin-Westinghouse B-71 got me thinking. Has anyone compiled a roster of all the diesels Mr. Bowers has helped saved? He truly is the Nelson Blount of diesels with two noteable exceptions: he did not start a museum and he buys and sells rather than "collects."

Actually, Mr. Bowers also leases out several vintage locomotives. It would be interesting to see a roster off all he has spread around the country.

Rob, I never realized that Ed Bowers was instrumental in this unit being preserved. Thanks for the interesting piece of information.

He doesn't need to start a museum. There are museums far and wide across this Country that are benefitting from the efforts and generosity of Ed Bowers.

Absolutely false. There is no single person, and not many museums, that has as many locomotives as he does. He chooses to spread his collection in various places.

Do you think it is cheap to move locomotives? Do you think he has a money tree in his backyard? Ed "brokers" locomotives and uses the funds he earns to accomplish what he has done in the field of preservation.

I wish people would measure their words and quit being presumptuous when it is obvious that they do not have a clue what is going on. It is truly annoying, Mr. Davis.
