To answer Chris' question. The M&H crossed US 322 from Hummelstown after the lollypop drop to return passengers to Middletown during the wee hours of Jan.1, 2009. That is the only one I know of but there may have been some others. The next scheduled crossing is New Years Eve, Dec. 31, 2009. That is not to say we will not cross between now and then with a necessary MoW train or with a charter or dinner train if management desires.

Although, I would love to see "Leviathian" make some trips east during the upcoming 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Wouldn't the arrival of "Jackson's troop train" at the 150th "First Manassas" be a glorious event?

I'm just envisioning the thousands of inconvenienced and indignant VRE riders setting up a third front.... and winning the battle.....

Actually, very few reenactments take place on the original ground anymore. Subsequent development, Park Service regulations, etc. Gettysburg is held on private property north of the town and original battlefield. The last (145th anniversary) First Manassas reenactment was held at Cedar Creek Battlefield (privately managed) in Middletown Va. It just happens to be near a couple of lightly trafficked branchlines. I doubt if you could find a piece of undeveloped land in the Manassas area big enough to hold a company, much less allow a couple of dozen or so battalions to manuever.
