Does anyone have any leads where the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum can find rubber gaskits for the ALCO S-2 ATSF 2381? We have found one company which might be able to produce them at an extremely high costs. Changing out windows was one way commercial railroads dealt with the problem - not an option for the museum.

If you can't find the real stuff, I've faked it with rubber tape and black silicon caulk. Was still good after 3 years when I moved on, and haven't heard it failed in the several years since.

You may be able to purchase from EMD's shortline supplier RSI, they were still supplying the old style window gasket material.

There are ALCO gaskets for sale on Ozark Mountain Railcar's parts dept.

If the gasket you are looking for is the kind that has a slot on the inside for the glazing and a slot on the outside for the metal of the car, try Restoration Specialists in Windber, Pa at 814-467-9842. They have several different varieties and sizes available. Check with them even if this description is not what you need. They have a lot of unusual stuff.
