I too heard the rumor that her boiler was good (and I've been guilty of repeating it), so thanks J. David for setting the record straight on that one. I don't suppose a new boiler is an insurmountable obstacle for an engine this size, IF there was a compelling need (and funds available) to get her running again. Perhaps she would be good as a smaller, more economical engine for the off-season, or as a traveling ambassador like Flagg Coal 75 or Viscose no. 6, but I imagine she's too small to fit into the Valley Railroad's operations otherwise.

Running or not, she's looking better than she has in decades, and the before-and-after pics speak for themselves. In the meantime, anyone really wanting to see her run can take a trip to Pennsylvania - Wanamaker Kempton & Southern no. 65 is an identical sister engine.
