The link below is to the PTC website, where you can download a watered down version of their Pro E Cad software package for free.

Although I have never used this software personally, it is widely used in industry and has a very good reputation.

Whatever its merits versus other CAD software (such as AutoCad, Catia, Unigraphics) this is a very powerful package, even diluted, and would possibly be useful to groups seeking to model, document, and create drawings of parts. It will run on a PC using Windows 98, 2000, or XP, and requires about 100 megs free disk space.

To get the software simply go to the link below and go to the "Free 3D Software Soulution" link and follow the directions. The only catch (other than the licensing agreement) is you have to give some personal information which will no doubt be used for marketing purposes. In my opinion a small price to pay.

Another very good free CAD program is Intellicad. I've been using it at home for just over a year and have had very good results. It is 100% compatible with Autocad which makes it very nice for exchanging drawings. In fact, any typed command whcih works on Autocad will work in Intellicad. This makes it very easy to learn if you're already an Autocad user. The free version is missing only a few features included in the purchased version, which can be bought for $99.

Requirements for downloading are similar to what you describe for Pro E CAD.
