Boy for a minute there with that deep whistle, I thought they had dubbed 1522 audio. 1522 was the loudest engine I've been around in many years. Typical Frisco, loud talkers, sharp exhaust.

Yes and as in previous years, they beat that blue engine to its death.

i have to agree with steampwr, they are earning there keep if all they were was put on the front and pushed by a diesel(s) what point would there be in even restoring one, i have never seen 722, or 1702 run, but i'm sure they earned there keep quite well, as for 425 she has been around for awhile and for a light pacific she does well in coal country with the grades, i do know that for a fact as i have ridden in the cab of her with wet rails and she did 98% of the work up to haucks junction which isn't exactly easy. i don't believe the beat the snot out of her, they use as intended. all i can say is whenever she is running it is truly a sight to see.
now if only we could get a T-1 running again, how about it steampwr.
Matt

Thats what we need.....no diesels then! I can think of many other steam tourist railroads where they work there engines hard every day they run.
