Off topic, do you realize that there were some half dozen proposed styles for
the American Coal Enterprises "new steam using La Porta ideas? The plans in 1982 MR was for a 4-8-2 was the ACE 3000. There was a 3000-8 which was to be a 4-8-4+4-8-4 (not a Garratt), a "standard cab" version, an ACE 6000 MARK I (4-10-2), an ACE 6000 MARK I C and an ACE 6000 MARK I G.

If this is interesting to you, please visit the

I was wondering if anyone might be interested in an HO scale model. If so please feel free to contact me off-line.

I had started some preliminary work based on the MR article, more like an excuse to run a modern steam engine on my local clubs modern run sessions. ha ha.

That project is on hold, building a new layout based in 1950's, an ACE doesnt fit.

Bowser quit steam kits so it makes it harder to get steam parts, but Precision scale still has kits and parts.

Or maybe get a cheap IHC engine and hack off it.
