SP 0-6-0 #1298 was mentioned in another thread as being on display in Santa Cruz, CA, but without its tender. Does anyone know what became of the tender?

I believe the tender was acquired by the owner of Southern Pacific C-8 2706 (2-8-0), as that engine did not have a tender.

A slight correction. SP C-8 2706 owned by John Manley does have its own tender. The tender of #1298 was picked up for a spare back when Rick Hamman still owned the locomotive.

...and the reasoning behind getting rid of it? The People's Republic of Santa Cruz said, "We don't need two train things!"

Is the aforementioned John Manley the one of Manley Boiler Works in the Los Angeles area?
