This came through on my Flickr feed:

I always find cutaways interesting.

Looks like another "must see" if I ever visit Manchester again. I was there in 1993 to ride the then-new light-rail system. Is the Museum anywhere near the "tram" line?

Easy walking distance from the trams; the nearest metrolink station is the G-MEX stop. There are about four museums rolled into one here, including the 1830 built Liverpool Road Station. On the railway side they sometimes operate a replica Liverpool & Manchester "Planet".

Thanks for the quick response! I saw and did many interesting things on that trip (including running one of the cars on the Manx Electric Railway), but one can never run out of things to do in the home of railroading.

There was a rumor floating around St. Louis that the DL&W 952 would be a good candidate for that, being a camelback and all.

What's more, the blurred spokes indictate that her wheels/rods are in motion...it doesn't get any better than that.

I'm 100% sure I'm not gonna be the only one to say this, thats a HORRIBLE idea, the main reasons some cutaways are the way they are is because there is many more of that type of steamer left, theres only 3 camelbacks left (unless u count the 2 b&o camels, then its 5)
