It would be good to get Muni 1030 into a more favorable environment, but there are already several cars of the 1016 class in storage in San Francisco. These include two that were "repatriated" from Orange Empire, and several from the Lake Tahoe "streetcars in the woods" storage area. With 16 PCC's already being worked on, I'm not sure when Muni will have the funding to restore the others.

WRM? This is the first mention I have heard of Rio Vista Junction getting involved in the act. Maybe PCC cars and parts? North Shore interurban?
O.

WRM is getting three sets of PCC trucks. No cars, since we have no available covered storage space, and the cars do not fit our collection policy.

I just got a report that the last car, 453 has made its way out to brookpark for loading. This means in the next couple weeks that all the cars will have finally been moved. The cars at brookpark are OX, CA&E 453 and CA&E 303.

The Northern Ohio Railway Museum acquired five cars.

# 1225 Among the best of the preserved Cleveland streetcars in existence. It was built in 1914 in Cleveland's Collinwood neighborhood by the Kuhlman Car Company.

# 303 This 1923 built car was known as a smoker on the Shaker Rapid, since they had a separate smoking compartment. Their lower operating cost contributed greatly to the Rapid surviving the Great Depression. These cars ran on the Rapid until 1954 during off peak times.

# 172 Built in 1970 by legendary car builder Pullman Standard for the Cleveland Transit System. This “Airporter” car was purchased in response to ridership increases on the Rapid due to the 1968 Airport Rapid Transit extension. This car is the largest car from the auction at 70 ft long.

"0X" A former Northern Ohio Traction & Light freight motor. This 1924 Cleveland built car from Kuhlman, is the last operating piece from the network of interurban railways that once served Cleveland, Akron and Canton. From 1932 to 1980 it served the Shaker Rapid as a work car. It was the car that brought Santa Claus to the Shaker Square holiday lighting ceremony for many years.

# 518021 A 1914 wooden caboose from the Norfolk and Western Railway.

All cars have been moved to the museum except OX and it will be moved soon.

In addition to the cars that went to NORM, the other Shaker Heights 1200 (1219, as I recall) is staying in Cleveland for ultimate indoor display. I understand that it is still at the RTA shops where it will be restored. This project is being funded by the Brookins family with the proceeds from the sale of the collection.

The last two CA&E cars, 303 and 453 have been scheduled to be moved next week. Cars will be loaded on Tuesday. 303 is expected to get to Connecticut and be unloaded on Thursday. Hope the weather holds out.

The weather has impacted the car moves out of Cleveland this week. We are now waiting out the storms and hope later in the week to get a revised schedule of when the cars will be leaving Cleveland.

well, at long last it looks like CA&E 303 is finally loaded and should be leaving Cleveland later today or early tomorrow for transport to The Connecticut Trolley Museum. We expect arrival to be sometime mid afternoon Thursday depending on weather and highway conditions. Its been a long struggle and people were starting to wonder if the car would ever leave Cleveland. There were even rumors floating around that we did not have the cash to move the car. I can rest those rumors aside as we prepaid all shipping last year for all the car moves. This I hope will be our last move of any equipment for a while. The good news is everything has a place under cover. 303 should be operational at some level in the next few weeks. Eventually we need to replace the canvas so she will be water tight.

CA&E cars 303 and 453 departed the RTA Brookpark facility this morning. They were spotted heading east out of Cleveland. Now only one car remains to be moved, the OX.

Can you say car move from hell?

once again the weather has interrupted the move of car 303. She will be visiting Scranton this weekend do to weather conditions. The drivers don't feel comfortable with the road conditions and have wisely chosen to stop. So near, yet so far:( It is expected now that the move should be completed sometime next week if mother nature cooperates.

To borrow a line from Southern Calif. sportscaster Jim Hill:
"Keep the faith"
and...better to "call a time out" and take a delay than to get into a "what the heck are we doing here?" or "whose idea was this??" situation.

reminds me of a story someone was able to take a trip totally via streetcar/interurban from New York to Chicago. Back then theoretically the car could move under its own power all the way back, oh well.

Glad to hear the truckers being careful.
