Has any equipment left the Kettle Moraine Railway, and if so, where is it going? Also, what is the physical status of the right-of-way?

Kurt, I heard last week that Steven is still working on dispositions, and that no big stuff (locos, cars) have left. I haven't heard anything about track being pulled, either.

Hi Kurt, spoke to Steven several times about the remaining equipment and tooling, etc. There are several different owners represented in what remains. Some, like the wooden car and the 4-6-0 are for sale, I am told the operating stock can be leased or perhaps purchased. A lot of smaller stuff was auctioned off a couple months back.

The depot and yard property remain in the family for now, but the ROW is being sold last I heard. the area is close enough to suburban Milwaukee to be developable.

The Tidewater Cypress 2-6-2 kit went to Illinois into private ownership. A set of composite trucks and bolsters are slated to go to Smithsonian I am told. I believe Steven would entertain offers in his few spare minutes in Chama.

Steven has no email address and I don't want to publish his wifes on this list. I suggest you contact him through CATS. Good hunting.
