Nice movie with sound. I was thinking it might have been from my late uncle and hoping to see myself. Most of his movies were sold at the estate auction.

I question the 1961 date. I thought in 61 that only 31 was running. 1223 did not arrive for several years later. I'm sure others will be able to nail down a date much better than I can.

Thanks for posting that.

I agree - the presence of the 1223, and the general size of the operation, and the clothes and hairstyles date this film to 1969 or so.

I was a regular visitor to Strasburg starting in the early 1970s so I always look for myself in films such as this as well.

Chris.

Great video and the sound is a plus! Did you see the link to the PRR 1223/7002 excursion? The sequence across the Rockville Bridge is awesome!!

Video is circa 1967 because suburban trailer Conestoga Creek is on the train and yet the North Car Shop is not yet built.

I especially enjoyed seeing the "bum shack" in the footage departing Leaman Place, and the period freight cars at Denlinger's Mill.

Has Strasburg ever gotten rid of anything?

I remember seeing the 4-4-0 currently on the Wilmington & Western at Strasburg when I was a kid. Don't know if they owned it, though.

Nope, they only stored it for its owner, W&W's Tom Marshall, while things were getting settled down there. It was offered for use to the SRR while instorage, but boiler paperwork issues didn't allow them to operate it.

SRR would give anything to have 98 in their hands today.

Who wouldn't... 98 is the best looking steamer in service and one of the few real passenger engines in tourist service.

Mike, 89 is lettered for Strasburg, but in a "CN" style.

475 was carrying "Strasburg" lettering last fall, she went back to "N&W" for the recent photo charter

I believe Kelly Lunch (EDIT! Lynch! Sorry!) or someone else from Strasburg posted that sometime after the reapplication of original schemes it was decided by the powers that be to go back to lettering locomotives with the Strasburg name. Its a added nice touch to do it in the style of their "heritage."

She is gorgeous, but honestly, I think the Strasburg service would just be too much for her!

I heard that 1223 was even getting a workout, and it was a lot heavier that the 98 is.

But yeah, she sure is pretty (on the INSIDE too)!
