After looking at those pictures I feel as though it can be done with a dedicated group. Take the 565 for example. The backhead is missing everything except for the firebox doors. Every gauge, knob and valve has been removed. Also, the wood lining the cab roof is charred from vandalism and every window is long gone. The boiler is sitting crooked on the frame from when it was moved to Scranton and the journals from the number one driver are removed with the axle sitting on wood blocks. There are no grates or ash pan, just a great void where they would go. The boiler has no superheaters or tubes, just empty tube sheets. Our running gear is stacked up on a pallet next to the locomotive.

All in all the 6218 is not beyond restoration. I firmly believe that something is only beyond restoration when it either gets cut up or decays into a pile of rust all over the ground.

TH&B 103, is nice looking locomotive! Hope she's capped and may eventually go under a shed.

I've been told that the group that has been working on the 103 has made the classic mistake of sealing the jacket with putty, so as water eventually leaks through the top, it will likely just collect at the bottom (if the seals do not crack open) of the jacket causing corrosion, despite the group being told to make make allowance for water to drain out of the jacket.
