It depends on who owned the rights to the name when the newer organization was formed. Did the organizers of the new organization purchase the rights to the name from the previous owner or, perhaps, had the name been abandoned by the time the new organization was formed?

I think that Mr. Timpany's company has been reorganized as Central Jersey Industries. Now that he is no longer trustee, as they don't have one any more, is there anyone left to care?

I actually saw something along those lines happen on the Gettysburg RR.

We had one property where the dog would chase every train barking ferociously the whole time. He'd literally worn a rut along the ends of the ties from all his chasing.

So one day we go out with a work train to change out some rails. As luck would have it, one of the rails was next to this farm. As we pull up, here comes the dog. I'm pondering how I'm going to change out the rail without getting eaten alive by Fido.

We slow to a stop, and he comes running up to the caboose barking like mad. We stop, he stops. He looks up at me... Says "Woof!"... Waits a moment, barks again, then looks at me like "Hey, that's not how we play the game! How can I chase this silly thing if it's not moving?" and calmly walks back to his doghouse, leaving us alone.

Dog that attacked police cars must attend classes

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — A pit bull mix in Tennessee has been sentenced to obedience training after his dogged attack on a local police car.

Winston didn't bite anybody, but he mauled a Chattanooga police car in what might have been a confused attempt to take a bite out of crime. The persistent pooch managed to tear off a section of the front bumper and damage the tires.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that a judge ruled that Winston had been a very bad dog. He was sentenced to obedience and canine good citizen classes, and he'll have to wear a tag that says he is "potentially dangerous."

Charges against his owner will be dismissed if the classes are completed successfully.

Owner Nancy Emerling said Winston got out of a fenced-in area at a welding shop March 14.

Not to get too doggone far off topic, but back in the 60's, I delivered the Los Angeles Times from a small station wagon. At one point on my route, I had to slow down because the road made a 90-degree turn. A dog living near the bend would come out of his yard and be barking his head off. As I sped up and drove away, he'd give up the chase and go home. One morning I decided to stop and see what would happen. The dog came up, still barking, and I rolled the window down a bit and barked back at him! I must have said something strong in "dog language", because he hushed up and went quietly back to his yard. (good thing it was about 4 AM)

To further send this topic off the tracks (to become a "lost topic"?), my brother was in a group bicycle ride when a dog came out barking at one of the riders.

He decided to whip out his frame mounted air pump, and swing it at him. Instead, he missed the dog, and jammed it into the spokes of his rear wheel, taking him down in the process.

My brother reports the dog then turned around when walked back home with a smile on his face.
