Large railroad museum project announced in Buffalo

At a minimum, I am impressed by the amount of money the WNYRHS was able to bring to the table to buy the site. This is a group that seemed to be more or less inactive for at least the last 20 years. Hopefully this will be a sustainable effort - Buffalo is a lot different than it was when this group started acquiring equipment way back when.

Sounds great, best of luck to them! Having an occaisional train stop at Buffalo Central Terminal would really be something...

Back in July 1977, I boarded the TH & B two-car RDC train at the Buffalo Central Terminal for a ride to Toronto. I remember being impressed by the depot as seen from a distance (like something from Metropolis, either the Fritz Lang movie or the city watched over by Superman) and being dismayed at its condition when I waited for the train there.

I'll second that - they should tour the country and teach how it's done!

I wonder what they propose to use for the motive power for the planned excursions - one could only pray to see the PRR #4483 2-10-0 run! I'd make a few visits a year to see that, and even without, I'd no longer bypass Buffalo when traveling in and around the Falls. It's nice to see some revitalization in the area as well as a bit history and character within the city.
