The Fillmore and Western is hosting the Mc Cloud River Railroad #18 which will be pulling the excursion between Santa Paula and Fillmore tomorrow, leaving Santa Paula at 2pm. Grab a camera and stake out your favorite spot along CA 126.

First the reassembly of the #14 and now this! I guess when the Fillmore folks get a need for steam they don't mess around.

Hopefully those taking pictures will also buy tickets or this could end up being a very short revival!

this is interesting, as the 18 was leased from the V & T to do movie work, nothing I've seen about the lease mentioned excursion work. BUT, it's good to know she's running again. I just hope all the repairs have been done.

McCloud River #18 was operated on a trial run (first time) a week ago on Saturday May 8th in Virginia City. It was out of the shop late in the day; made a trip up to the VC station and returned to the shop; then it made a trip south over the road. Reported that there were some problems -- mostly minor.

I saw the operation and also got first hand information. No photos taken. I was just enjoying.

I understand that No. 18's in Filmore for the filming of "No Water for Elephants." Some wagons and other equipment has been borrowed from the Circus World Museum.

Also leased a former Santa Fe stock car from Orange Empire Ry Museum.

How long will the #18 be in Fillmore? Will it be opreating next weekend? I would like to come down and see it. Speaking of Fillmore and steam, how long until the #14 will be finished? TIA

Fillmore & Western also acquired a surplus wooden boxcar (M&SL 28124) from WRM for use in the movie and future tasks.
