Finally we have had some sunny weather after the many days of cold wet weather. The new work season was kicked off today and it was good to see some new faces join the group. Some important repairs were undertaken and inspections done of the water tank on the tender. Fortunately there was no one trapped inside as there was signs of people accessing the tank at some point when we opened up the forward hatch and it was unsure what we would find when the other two were opened up. Fortunately it was just the usual garbage left over which will be cleaned out at some point. We did discover a unique lifting point in the rear most hatch for lifting the rear of the tender. I always imagined tenders would be slung with a spreader bar etc and lifted that way.

Thanks to the generous loan of a grate shaker bar,we were able to get the grates reset in the firebox as they had been left halfway open for quite a number of years.
We are constantly looking for old pictures of our Locomotive and would like to hear from anyone who recalls an accident with this Locomotive while it as in service. So far we have not been able to track down the where and why she has had a repair section in the smokebox and welding to the main frame.

I assume you asked Grant about that? He has the repair records of many CN steam locomotives.

Any current pictures or videos of CN 6069?

Grant tried to research it and came up stumped. All we know is that it happened sometime in the 50s and must have been quite a collision!
j32885, I was unable to get video of the grate shakers being moved as I was busy outside when it happened. I will dig out some fairly recent pictures and post here.

I wonder if she side-swiped another train at one time? Maybe repairs to the fron t-end throttle?
6069 looks good, in all the shots we've seen thus far. Pretty good condition for a static locomotive.

Looks like the answer. Actually, it's part of the locomotive's heritage. It's not quite like she's going back into high speed commuter service tomorrow.

The photo looks like it was taken standing in the Reclaim Yard in London looking north towards the Dundas Sub. I've scaled down that hill in the background several times.
