At 9am in Phoenicia, George Peck will be leading a crew to complete removing the trailer in the Phoenicia yard. There will also be a general cleanup of the yard, and he could use a large crew.

The 702 crew plans to meet at 10am.

No work crews will be working out of Kingston Saturday.


Sunday, June 20th

George Peck be at the Phoenicia yard at 10am.

Cornell Street will open at 10am. On CMRR RS-1 400/2361, Ernie Klopping plans to continue with cleaning and painting. He will also be preparing the engine for the block replacement. Ernie could use some scrapers and painters to speed up the exterior restoration of the engine.

Saturday, June 19th

On Saturday, George Peck led a crew consisting of Joe Marsh, Greg Peck and myself who partly removed the trailer in the Phoenicia Yard.

Al Johnson and Gary Lowe worked on the coach, getting the roof completely painted.

On the train, Dave Heick was engineer, with Bill Kaba and Ray Farrell on the 11 and 1pm trains. We had a charter train at 4:30 for the Woodland Valley Home association.


Sunday, June 20th

On Sunday in Kingston, Ernie Klopping made repairs to one of the trucks on passenger flat 278, while Walt Otto made carpentry repairs to the woodwork on the car. Mark Glaser and Bob Blake continued scraping and preparing for priming RS1 2361/400. John Patane and Ron Epstein also helped.

Saturday, June 26th

At 9am in Phoenicia, George Peck will be assembling a crew to put down stone at MP 23.3 and at MP 22.7, which will be tamped by the CMRR tamper. He also plans to continue removing the trailer in the Phoenicia yard.

Also in Phoenicia, the 702 crew plans to meet at 10am.

No official crews plan to meet at Cornell Street on Saturday, but anyone interested in helping paint CMRR passenger flat 278 should contact Earl who will open the yard for them.



Sunday, June 27th

George Peck be at the Phoenicia yard at 10am. He plans to continue removing the trailer.

On Sunday, Cornell Street will open at 10am. On CMRR RS-1 400/2361, Ernie Klopping plans to continue with cleaning and painting (the nose and parts of the cab were primed last week). Ernie could use some scrapers and painters to speed up the exterior restoration of the engine.

Also at Cornell Street, Earl Pardini will be finishing repairs to the truck of CMRR 278, and plans to apply stain to the unpainted areas of the car.

Friday, June 25th

On Friday, Joe Marsh, Dick Ray and Dick Wilhelm worked on the ESRM's car mover which is in the Phoenicia yard:

The car mover will be used to move our cars in storage west of Kingston over bridge C9.

George Peck and Al Schoessow took the tamper to MP 22.7 and worked there, and Earl Pardini delivered stone to the same area.

Saturday, June 26th

On Saturday, Ed Palmatier and Al Johnson worked on coach 702, on the west door and celestory windows.

George Peck, Dave Mason, Derek Stapleton and Mike Adsit continued the removal of the trailer in the Phoenicia yard.

Peter Fluchere was on ticket booth duty and Dave Heick was engineer.

Sunday, June 27th

In Kingston, the crew consisted of Earl Pardini, Ernie Klopping, Mark Glaser, Bob Blake, Ron Epstein, and George Cook. From Mark Glaser: "Repairs to the truck on 278 (open passenger flat) were completed and the truck was reinstalled. Stain was applied to about 60% of the wood surfaces in the passenger seating area of the car."

We will be opening our operating season in Kingston on Saturday.

On Sunday, Cornell Street will open at 10am. Plans include continuing to scrape and prime CMRR 400/2361.

Paul Sternitzke and his brother William plan to lead a brush crew on Sunday meeting at West Hurley at 9am. They plan to go to the area between the two private crossings at MP 6.29 and 6.55 and clear brush and overhead trees from the line there. Bring a weed wacker for the high weeds there, in addition to brush loppers and a chain saw.


Monday, July 5th

We will be operating in Phoenicia. No work crews are planned.

The CMRR gained a new caboose on Thursday, July 1, courtesy of a CMRR volunteer who bought it from the M&NJ. It will be part of our work equipment at Shokan for now.

I can assign no probabilty to when the bridges will be repaired, as this involves outside funding which we obviously do not control. However, once we know, it will be announced here. In the meantime, we have plenty of other things to keep us busy.

In Kingston, the CMRR ran its fourth of July train successfully.

On Sunday, Paul Sternitzke, William Sternitzke and I cut brush between the two private crossings at MP 6.29 and 6.55, cutting brush and many low-hanging trees.

Tuesday, July 6th

On Tuesday, July 6th, Earl Pardini, Tom Healy and Al Schoessow will be putting a crew together to stone and tamp several sections of the line, mostly at view curve, MP 22.7. They could use additional help if you are available. They plan to use the tamper and the newly rebuilt hi-rail dump truck (many thanks to Joe Marsh and his crew) for this operation. They plan to meet at 9am at the Phoenicia yard.

Friday, July 9th

The CMRR will be participating in the Kingston Children's Day Parade on Friday, July 9th.

If you wish to join us, please contact Mimi Pardini and let her know you are coming.

Set up is 4:30pm, near Andrews Street, and the start time is 6:00pm.

Bring your kids! The Kingston train will also be running that day from 7pm.


Saturday, July 10th

Phoenicia

George Peck will lead a crew Saturday morning starting at 9am in Phoenicia. He plans to insert about a dozen ties just west of Mt. Tremper station.

Paul Sternitzke will lead an OOS crew starting at West Hurley at 10:30am. Plans are to finish cutting between the private crossings between 6.29 and 6.55, and also work west from West Hurley. Bring chain saws, weed wackers, and pole saws for overheads.

In Kingston, we will be continuing our summer service there at 1pm at Westbrook Lane. Cornell Street Yard will open about 10am for preparation work for the afternoon run.


Sunday, July 11th

Our second rules class of the year will be held at coach 702 in Phoenicia at 10am on Sunday. If you have not taken the class, or need to retake the test, please come to the class so you can continue to operate equipment.

Cornell Street will be closed Sunday.


Monday, July 12th

Earl Pardini plans to lead a crew making track repairs on the west end of the railroad. Plans are to start at 9am at the Phoenicia yard.

The CMRR was in the Kingston Children's Day Parade, and ran several trains free to the public after the parade.


Saturday, July 10th

George Peck and Derek Stapleton replaced 13 ties near Mt. Tremper.

Paul Sternitzke and George Cook did more work at the two private crossings at MP 6.29 and 6.55. I joined them in the afternoon, helping them to move the sickle bar cutter from Shokan to West Hurley.

In Kingston, Ray Farrell was conductor and Peter Fluchere ticket agent. In Mt. Tremper, George Bain was ticket agent, Joe Logiudice was dispatcher, and the crew consisted of Dave Heick, Bill Kaba and Walt Otto.

The CMRR held its twilight ride Saturday night with a large crowd. Ray Farrell and Dave Heick were the crew and Walt Otto, Earl and Mimi Pardini, and a few others played music.

The CMRR held its rules class in Phoenicia.

Mike LaLonde worked on flat car 202 in Phoenicia.

Train crew was Al Schoessow, Bob McDonald and John Prestopino, and Peter Fluchere was ticket agent.


Monday, July 12th

Earl Pardini, George Peck, Al Schoessow, John Patane, and Ed Winstanley did ballasting and tamping near view curve, MP 22.7.

Wednesday, July 14th.

Joe Marsh and Paul Sternitzke plan to do work on the sickle bar cutter starting at 9am tomorrow (Wednesday), and plan to take it out to do some mowing about noon tomorrow. They will be meeting at 9am at the siding at West Hurley (MP 10.5).

If you are available to help them with mechanical work on the sickle bar cutter, please come by around 9am. If you would like to join the mowing crew, plan to come around noon. They can use extra hands in both regards.
