"DL&W #664" was finished in time for the convention, complete with a replicated front "jeweled" number-plate and prominently positioned so that it attacked considerable interest of convention attendees and general park visitors. In a cooperative effort between several people, the ARHS and Reading T&HS several of these plates were made so now the RDG 900's also are properly adorned.
It was a pleasure to meet and greet as many of the visitor as I could to answer questions about the locomotive - the common one being "does it run?" (Yes it does but neither the F3's or the FP7's had any role in the convention other than static display.

Hopefully you will have the opportunity to follow up with some special events featuring these locomotives. As a design family, the Electro-Motive F-units are among the most significant and successful locomotives of all time.

The first run of the Reading F's was successful and the units ran well. It was a great pleasure for me to get to know Rich and his gang and work on the numberboard as well as other projects. I hope to work on many other projects jointly with the ARHS and RCT&HS in the future.

Some more photos of such stunning examples of early Diesel motive power.

Steamtown has been a great host for our locomotives and we look forward to our future with them in Scranton.

Here are a couple of photos of the 902, taken last evening after the excursion to the Gap. Both units ran beautifully, and they looked very handsome with their number boards.

Those jewels really make a huge difference on the noses of the FP-7's!

Wow, just... wow.

Those number boards are just the cherry on top of a sundae! I see the biggest dilemma for some was which trip to shoot: The Pacific and the SD or the Mike and the F's? God I love this town!

Dave C, I hope the Lackawanna F-units stay for awhile. Just think of the photo shoot we can do with 664/663 and 565! Those F-units are awesome looking!

Both the RDG and Lackawanna units look great (of course I'm partial to RDG) but the jeweled plates look fantastic on both units.
