Eric,

I am guessing, but I suspect that they probably saw some pitting on the tubes and could determine the amount of material missing in the tube by the depth of the pit. Good luck with the steam operations on the forth.

Yeah, that kind of thing is normal in the Sacramento River valley.
We call it Tule fog.
Never heard of it making noise though... :)
