One of the ongoing issues in the last 25 years has been finding boiler grade rivets for new construction or repair. Most of the available supply was structural grade made from 1018 steel. The new A.S.M.E. Code Section I (2010) PG-14 lays out the procedure for qualifying select SA-36 to meet SA-31 specifications. The procedures are similar to qualifying select SA-36 as SA-675 Gr 60.
