Branford (Conn.) Electric Rwy Ass'n. has 9 Directors elected to staggered 3 year terms. They must be of a higher dues paying class than just the lowest cost full membership. There is also provision, not yet used, for appointment of up to 2 Public Directors, with no dues requirement, for 1 year terms.
Electric City (Scranton, Penna.) Trolley Museum Association has 9 Trustees elected to staggered 3 year terms. They must have already paid $100, in addition to dues, to have become Director Members. The practice was supposed to be similar to that of Railways to Yesterday (Shade Gap, Penna. Electric Rwy.) in 1975.

[quote="robertmacdowell"]Since Clay answered for SMRS, I'll answer for BAERA/WRM. 10. Not sure why. There's a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and President. There is no Vice President because the President only has one duty: to convene the General Membership meeting, which has only one agenda item: election results. I convened it without a proper quorum, which helped me understand that rules of meetings bend to practical necessity.

BAERA began in 1946 as a railfan club. Operating a museum came much later. The job of the president was to preside at the weekly club meetings that are no longer held.

The Bylaws require one annual membership meeting at which election results are announced. Since no quorum exists, no other business can be transacted at this meeting.

The BAERA president usually is the official delegate at the ARM convention.

The WW&F Railway Museum has 9 directors, staggered 3-year term. Of the directors, there's a Pres, VP, Treasurer, Clerk. Everyone else is "just" a director. The board elects the officers. The WW&F has slightly over a 1000 members.

Interestingly enough, the museum started with something like 5 directors re-elected every year, and couldn't find enough people to fill the board at the very beginning (20 years ago). Officers were elected directly by the membership. About 10-12 years ago the bylaws were changed to be staggered 3-year terms. The number of directors were increased to 7 then 9 in the mid-90s.
