Let me fist say that I know New Orleans has had bigger troubles than rusting locomotives. This one came through on my flickr feed:

These guys have seen better days for sure. Is this a museum or a storage location?

The steam locomotive is Trinity & Brazos River RR No. 76 0-6-0formerly located in the Bisso Towboat Yard and since moved to Lasta's storage area. Here's the steamlocomotive.info entry for the critter:

E unit was originally UP 909, built 8/61, and has been Amtrak 4037, 468, 414, 1414. Was purchased by a retired Amtrak employee in the 80's along with several damaged, junky, and/or wrecked passenger cars. All had been stored at New Orleans UPT before being put on the bid list.

Owner has never really had any permanent place to keep them and when things got to the point where no one was claiming them or paying track rent for them, they got shoved on a unused piece of rail to continue rotting. E unit is basically just a shell with wheels.

Steam engine, when retired by Bisso Towboat and Marine decades ago, was simply put on display on the river side of the levee(very inaccessible), and its tender was used as a billboard(probably could be seen quite well from the river). Bisso used the engine years ago to haul coal up and over the levee. Bisso recently donated the engine to LASTA(sponsor of SP 745), and it was brought to LASTA's "yard". The E unit is right outside the "yardlimits".
