I am a member of Pacific Southwest Railway Museum (dba San Diego Railroad Museum) .

On a mulit-gage locomotive EMD MRS-1 the axle need to be change because the hollow in center is not approve by AAR and wheel shops won't touch the old axle.

I have a Question. GE/ALCo RSX-4 the brought just after EMD product the 13 MRS-1 and the GE it got for by use ALCo part the make 83 unit.
GE not ALCo is the supplier of RSX-4.

The Axle is a friction type an if a RSX-4 a scrap could the axle fit it EMD MRS-1 ?
who has any? 12 ea.With match Journal bear if possible.

The length in overall 8.521 Feet nominal.

From GE Renewal-part Catalog I find a (Axle, Wheels and boxes DRP-3035 which I should say size of the axle but I don't have the DRP-3035.

Who has a GE/ALCo RSX-4 MRS1 boneyard.

There were the hulks of three ALCO MRS-1's sitting on the deadline at the Cass Scenic Railroad in Cass, WV. They were for sale sometime ago with the idea they were going to scrapped if no one wanted them I believe.

You could also contact the Bluegrass Railroad in Versailles, KY. They have two mostly intact ALCO MRS-1's and also have a basically brand new power truck from a third scrapped unit sitting in storage. Since they've been totally mismanaged for 20+ years the outfit is constantly broke so you might be able to get a whole new power truck if you've got cash.

Then Ozark Mounatin Railcar had an RSX-4 unit for sale sometime ago sitting somewhere in Arkansas I think. You could try looking up their website and see if they still have it.

At least two of the MRS-1s at Cass had rotating endcap roller bearings... Installed if memory serves me correctly, at the GE Service Shop in Pittsburgh.
