Watching Trains and Locomotives on RFDTV and this week it's the doubleheaders out of Strasburg with the PRR faux 7002. It's almost like watching a British special. Two turn of the century steam engines with no diesel helpers on a jointed rail passenger main at close to a mile a minute. Blue Contrail freight and Amtrak passenger trains behind F40's abound. Of course you get the good with the bad, mainly short shorts with tube socks. Now the 4-4-2 and the 4-4-0 are still forever in the Penn State Railroad Museum and the glory days are now but a video. But what a video!
Some may say cooler heads prevailed, or that risking a national treasure was unwise. But maybe for those of use who never had the chance to experience the heyday of North American steam excursion we can dream that perhaps someday they'll come back.

I saw that this week, also. One of the most entertaining they've shown. As someone who spent a lot of time in Harrisburg as a kid in the 50's it was great seeing steam over the Rockville bridge again.
