Looking at the photograph on Google Earth, I think the car is remarkably straight. They must not have removed the truss rods, and the body is not sitting directly on the ground.

I received this book as a Christmas gift and it's the reason for my renewed interest in the Good Will car. Very interesting reading with a remarkable amount of detailed research!

There was also an article on them by Wilma and Norman Taylor in the R&LHS journal "Railroad History" issue #178/7-75.

I'm sorry to hear of Mr. Taylor's passing. We attended a week-long Elderhostel (on trains) at Green Lake, in 2006. Mrs. Taylor was one of the instructors. Whenever I had some free time, I talked trains with Mr. Taylor. They were both very good to us.

He had suffered a stroke while working on the Grace, and he really enjoyed having someone around who knew about trains. The car seems well-cared-for, and I would expect that it will be around for many years to come - a fitting tribute to him.
