Boyd Owens posted a news item in FLIMSIES about a swap of steam locomotives between Midwest Central and the Georgetown Loop. I know the pedigree of three of the engines involved, but not Midwest Central's number 1. I couldn't find any info about a number 1 on the MC web page. Anyone know the story?

I think this is one of the 3 engines brought up by Early West Railways in Pomona, CA in the mid '60's. It later went to the San Diego Railroad Museum in Campo.

Hot off the Web--Georgetown Loop

Reportedly the engines going to Georgetown loop operation are

● West Side Lumber Company 3-truck shay #9 (lease 7-10 years)
● CyZ #1 2-8-0 BLW 1897

Reportedly going to Midwest Central

● #12 2-6-2

Apparently the #12 and the #1 are too large for the operation at Mount Pleasant.

The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum had CyZ No. 1 for several years. It's a Baldwin 2-8-0 built in 1897. It was at a restaurant in Anaheim many years before we got it. It came to us with it's original Stephenson valve gear. It came up from Mexico in 1965 along with CyZ No. 6 and 12 for a proposed Southern CA tourist operation that soon fizzled out. All of the narrow gauge engines went to various theme restaurants. See REPORT No. 189 for details and pictures.
