Both of our engines received new rod brasses this year, along with the 192 a new coat of black Imron. Aside from general maintenance, not much is new with the railroad, however I felt some here would enjoy a view of our break in runs this past weekend. Video link is below...

Nicely done. I've got to get over there one of these days. Has Dollywood management ever considered doing something similar to a "Railfan Day" like Tweetsie has offered? They have the day on a weekend in the autumn where attendance levels would normally be low, and seem to get a great boost from added crowds. It's done a lot to boost their visibility within the railfan crowd also, which also attracts more people to visit.

The best thing you or anyone else can do is write or call the company and submit your ideas and interest. Those of us who work on the train don't have the to ability to make any of these events possible if there is no demonstrated interest from the outside. Along with others I work with, we would love to see some rail fan related events or special trips and photo sessions but the park has progressed far beyond its roots as a railroad making modern interest in rail preservation more difficult to nurture from within.

Honestly I would encourage any one no matter where you live to let the company know your interest. One thing I have been impressed with since my employment is the follow through of guest comments and suggestions and with help from preservation minded individuals like most who read RYPN, we could all likely see some nice changes we would all enjoy.
