The photo is frightening.

An American connection -- I think the Alishan narrow guage line (an ex logging line) is still running Shays; that looks like the tender of one of the Shays in the photograph that accompanies the article.

In the distance it looks like a small diesel locomotive. In the foreground I just see the rooftop of another car on it's side. I presume the equipment has not been moved to allow accident investigation.

Still a shame and an unpredictable accident cause.

On April 23, the NG steam tourist train from Esquel, Argentina was overturned by high wind gusts. Luckily, only minor injuries.

Very sad indeed. I rode the line, and it was a fascinating trip. I even got a very short cab ride on one of the shays, but they weren't running them that year because of fire danger (for this Colorado resident, the forest seemed dripping with water).

Sad as it is, why do you need to investigate a tree falling on the tracks? Logic would dictate that large object obstructing tracks equals derailment for tourist train.

A wreck with multiple fatalities always warrants investigation. Sometimes there is more to a story than what you find on the surface. Never forget, every safety rule and improvement came out of someone else's blood or suffering.
