Hi,

Got the word from Rich Jahn of the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society that June 5th is going to close their convention in Scranton in a big way with two photo trains running between Steamtown and the Nay Aug Tunnels. The morning will feature the newly painted F3's dressed for the DL&W (they are beautiful) while the afternoon is planned to feature newly restored and repainted CNJ RS-3 #1554 on a rake of CNJ coaches!

Tickets are cheap ($45 includes both trips).

Got the following notice from the D-L list.

Rob

We are planning to run two special trips in conjunction with Steamtown
on Sunday, June 5th as part of our convention.

Plans are in the process of being finalized, but I'd like to survey the
list for interest since there's not much time left to advertise this in
the railfan press.

The morning trip would start boarding at 8am after spotting the DLW
F-3's and 3 Boonton coaches near Bridge 60 for photos.

The trip will run to the east portal of the Nay Aug tunnel and include a
few photo stops along the way.

The afternoon trip is still being finalized, but will include the CNJ
#1554 and some of Steamtown's CNJ coaches. This trip will leave around 3
pm (or so) and follow the same route, but may have different photo
locations.

We need to sell at least 100 tickets to break even, so we'd like to get
a feel for how many people would be interested. You don't have to
register for the convention to ride this trip. We anticipate the cost
to be $45 to ride both trips and are looking into using Paypal as one
payment method. I believe that the park will still charge it's normal
entrance fee.

We'll also hold a naming ceremony for the ARHS F-3 that day. It will be
named the 'R. Ross Chapin Jr.' to honor Ross, who was instrumental in
the restoration and operation of this unit. We expect to have other
units spotted in the roundhouse area for photos.

Please respond to me off-list at hoffmannwj at yahoo dot com with your
interest. No money is needed right now.

Feel free to forward this to any other individuals or other mailing
lists.

Thank you,
Walter
ARHS President

Sounds great! To bad I won't be downthere. Either way, kudos to the Tri-state and ARHS for taking great care of those old BAR cabs.

As an update the trips likely will go further than the tunnel to allow use of a run-around track.
Corrected ticket price is $48.00 and updated information is on the ARHS website.
