Hi friends,

Interesting things on the rails of eastern PA if you are into internal combustion.

The undisputed queens, the Juniata Terminal E-8's have been out and about with well deserved attention.

This past weekend, the NH&I planned a steam excursion on SEPTA to Willow Grove, but with #40 not able to make it, the train ran with a GP-30 and a C-39 plus a genset on the SEPTA portion -- 3 builders and 5 decades of diesel technology!

On June 4th, a West Chester RR excursion to Lansdale will give you another chance to ride behind a genset, plus a C424 and RS18 through downtown Philly.

The next day the ARHS convention will feature the return of CNJ RS3 #1554 and the Lackawanna-painted F-3's on passenger trains.

There are also quite a few trips scheduled for the Reading FP-7's put of Scranton this summer. The Electric City is not only the ALCo hub of the east, but it's becoming one for cab units as well!

Toss in the usual suspects (BL-2 at Honesdale, little GE's at Kempton and SD-50's at Jim Thorpe) and you've got quite a variety for diesel preservationists to ride behind east of the Susquehanna.

Lots of good stuff to enjoy and support, with many RYPN regulars in the background making it happen.

Rob

I noticed in Railpace a mention of a Sept trip from Bethlehem to Scranton - I would assume that will have some interesting power as well.

Rob

Do you have links or purchasing tickets for any of these trips? I know the West Chester RR trip was posted but I've not seen anything on the others.

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

Thank you Rob for compiling this comprehensive list of great diesel powered excursions this Spring in PA. I will definitely have to make it out to some of them to see some great preservation groups run these very interesting trips.

We still have tickets remaining for our June 4th WCRR excursion. Some new details shown here:
