What actually happened is that the Rohm & Haas management never made any comment that these locos would be considered surplus, so no action was considered. THEN, last year Rohm & Haas sold the plant to DOW Chemical. The DOW management made drastically different plans, including tearing down at least 1/3 of the plant. The NEW management made the last minute decision to surplus the locomotives, and no one, even the employees of the plant, knew until the "do it now or else" situation arose. I literally got the phone call as the portion of the plant was being demolished and the scrappers were on the property.

Congrats to all! It would be neat to compile a list of "saves" made via RYPN.

if only every owner of old rail equipment would say' "Get this out of here, you have 10 years to move it." But we know it is not like that. I can close my eyes and easily remember a dozen pieces I unwittingly paid last respects to because the right preservationist could not be found overnight.
